Together for
plastics circularity
What we do
Plastic is used in a wide range of applications and its use globally continues to grow.
The legislative landscape for waste plastics is ever evolving with an increasing focus on reuse, recycling, and plastics circularity. EPRO provides a platform for international sharing of technical expertise and best practice helping to facilitate the move towards a more circular economy for plastics. As an association, we do this by:
- Creating a network to facilitate discussion as well as exchange of information and best practice. We have a wide range of working groups and hold two annual general meetings.
- Dissemination of information to members on key technical and legislative issues. Analysing and presenting it in a digestible form through working groups, webinars and regular EPRO Updates.
- Participation in conferences, platforms, external meetings, and work with other associations.
- Providing opportunities for members to share their expertise and advocate on areas of interest through participation in industry forums and meetings.
Our members are typically collection systems for packaging or agricultural plastics, extended producer responsibility (EPR) organisations, or technical plastics collection and recycling associations. We expect the sectors we work with to increase in the coming years as plastics circularity becomes a growing focus for other waste streams, such as end of life vehicles, marine plastics, textiles, mattresses, and furniture.
EPRO External Activities
EPRO is actively involved in industry projects and platforms that have a focus on plastics circularity.
EPRO is the thematic coordinator for plastic packaging in the Circular Plastics Alliance, is a member of the Polyolefin Circular Economy Platform (PCEP) and works closely with the Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging (CEFLEX). It participates in the recycled plastic taskforce in RecyClass, technical committee of the European Plastic Bottle Platform (EPBP), and the Packaging Chain Forum.
